Airbnb

Airbnb has become a go-to option for selecting comfortable and unique accommodations in our area. You’ll need an Airbnb account to search and book through the platform, but it’s relatively simple to acquire one. From there, Airbnb.com gives you multiple options for searching for unique and special accommodations, from standalone cabins to renting someone’s entire home, hostel-style units, or even a room in an Airbnb host’s home — which is actually how Airbnb got its start. If you want to search by location, try a few of these small towns to get close and convenient options: Rogers, KY; Slade, KY; Campton, KY; Beattyville, KY; and Stanton, KY.

Hostels

If you’re looking for a community stay that doesn’t include camping or tents, you may find BedRock to be an ideal accommodation option. BedRock has bunk-bed-style accommodations or a private room with communal spaces where you can meet fellow climbers and share stories — another great way to connect with the RRG community.

Transportation

Since there is little to no public transportation in the Red River Gorge region, visitors will be exploring with their own personal vehicles. A 2WD vehicle with decent clearance will only be minorly limiting — most climbing crags will be accessible, but you may have to walk a further distance. AWD or 4WD with good clearance will give you the greatest access advantage to all RRG climbing crags. If you’re staying at some of the local campgrounds, you can often find folks to carpool to the crag with. There are also a couple of transportation options if you need a ride to or around the Red.

Red River Gorge Shuttle offers transportation for folks from Kentucky’s major metropolitan areas of Lexington and Louisville looking to travel to the Red River Gorge.
